Food an Expression of (Self) Love

What is the most useful piece of food wisdom or advice you have ever received?

Katie: Food can be an expression of (self) love.


Who gave it to you? 

Katie: My Mom – the kindest, most generous, and loving human being I know. (Also the best home cook I know.)

How does it show up in your life?

Katie: Cooking for people is a tremendous way to show that you care about them. This applies externally – comfort food for a colleague or friend going through a hard time, treats to celebrate milestones and occasions – but I've learned that it can also apply internally. In the same way that my mother preparing a special dish for me when I come home brings me joy and comfort, I can bring joy and comfort to myself in taking the time to cook for myself.


If your heart hurts, spread love around through food.
Then—because food is powerful, but isn't always enough—consider donating, volunteering, or using your gifts to support folks doing work to spread love in other ways.

Take care of yourself and each other.
